Q: What is the relationship between PotashCorp and PotashCorp, Feed Products?

A: PotashCorp, Feed Products is part of PotashCorp, the world's largest fertilizer enterprise and feed phosphate producer, by capacity, producing three of the primary plant and animal mineral nutrients (phosphorus, potash and nitrogen). PotashCorp meets the needs of customers in the animal and crop nutrition and industrial sectors around the globe. You can learn more about PotashCorp by visiting www.potashcorp.com.

Q: How many phosphate plants do you have?

A: We have a total of six feed phosphate plants: five strategically located near major feed markets in North America and one plant in São Vincente, Brazil.
Two of our five North American plants are located at our phosphate mining sites, one in Aurora, North Carolina; the other in White Springs, Florida. Our other three North American feed phosphate plants are located in Marseilles, Illinois, Joplin, Missouri and Weeping Water, Nebraska.

Q: How many phosphate rock mines do you have?

A: We have two phosphate rock mines. Our phosphate rock mines are located in Aurora, North Carolina and White Springs, Florida.

Q: Are feed phosphates bad for the environment?

A: Feed phosphates are an important part of an efficient and safe food production program for humans. When used in accordance with good agricultural and feeding practices, there are no environmental risks associated with their use.
Nutritionists work with farm managers to maximize phosphorus utilization from feed and minimizing phosphorus excretion in manure. Excreted phosphorus, as manure, can be used as a part of a precision crop fertilization program.
PotashCorp’s feed phosphate products are highly bioavailable, meaning that more of the phosphate feed is absorbed by the animal. The more bioavailable a phosphate source is, the more efficiently it is utilized by animals. Also, it means less phosphorus is excreted as manure.

Q: How much phosphate ore do you have?

A: PotashCorp lays claim to two of North America’s richest phosphate ore reserves. One is in Aurora, North Carolina; the other in White Springs, Florida. At the present rate of utilization, these ore bodies can provide PotashCorp, Feed Products customers with over 70 years of high-grade feed phosphate products.

Q: Are your plants Safe Feed/Safe Food Certified?

A: All five of our North American feed plants are certified under the Animal Feed Industry Association’s (AFIA) Safe Feed/Safe Food Program.

Q: What is your production capacity?

A: Our feed phosphate plants have a capacity of 1,181,000 MT.
Note: Figure taken from Sept. 2005 PotashCorp Summary less 110,000 for shut down of DFP at White Springs in 2005.

Q: What quality control measures do you have in place?

A: We have a Quality Management System that incorporates Statistical Quality Control (SQC) to ensure process integrity and assure finished product conformance with product specifications and label guarantees. Nutritional performance is routinely measured using recognized test procedures.

Q: What is Statistical Quality Control?

A: To ensure that customers get the exact nutrient content they pay for, PotashCorp uses Statistical Quality Control procedures for monitoring and correcting process variables to minimize variance and to consistently meet specifications for phosphorus content. At each of our plants, you’ll find a laboratory staffed by trained personnel that continually test production and shipping samples for conformance with label guarantees.
